Coming Soon: The Class of 2024

The Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame will announce The Class of 2024 in the coming weeks and will make tickets available for the induction banquet at the Alee Temple on May 6.

Each year, the Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame accepts nominations from the community for Athletes and Citation honorees and then evaluates those nominations to determine who will be inducted.

For a candidate to be considered as an Athlete, the athlete must have spent his or her formative years (participating in area schools) in Savannah and must be retired from competition for at least five years or be at least 40 years old. Distinguished athletes from any sport may be nominated for consideration.

A Citation Honoree may be a person or an organization that has made substantial contribution to athletics via coaching, promoting or supporting athletics in the area. Citation Honorees do not have to have spent their formative years in Savannah to be nominated.

The Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame was founded in 1965 to honor the achievements and contributions of the athletic standouts and leaders in and around Savannah. Plaques for each inductee hang upstairs in the mezzanine at Savannah Civic Center, and each year the GSAHOF hosts a banquet at the Savannah Civic Center to honor the new inductees, recognize the Lawton M. Calhoun Award and M.A. Spellman Special Award winners and acknowledge the most outstanding male and female high school athletes in the Greater Savannah area.
